Types of Headaches
Migraine headaches are one form of headaches associated with an aura. If it's a classic migraine you may feel dizzy, nauseous, or see scintillating strobe-like flashing lights. These are warning signs to classic migraine sufferers that a headache is looming.
There are some well known predisposing factors that trigger these migraine headaches like, wine, chocolate, caffeine, cheeses etc. If you get a migraine headache it may help lying in a dimly lit room that is quiet.
We don't claim to treat migraine headaches but we may be able to help locate whether your headache is actually being caused by a restriction in your neck. We are open for emergency call out* on Sundays if you get a headache and want help in understanding whether we can help or if you need to be referred.
A migraine headache doesn't have to have an aura before a patient gets it. These are termed standard migraines which have no aura but can be just as painful and debilitating. A common cause of standard migraines is tension in the upper back muscles and neck joints, from overworking.
A dull ache is often felt at the base of the skull behind the neck and a tight vice-like pressure seems to bear down on the head.
